I come to User Experience in a round about way…. After getting a divorce a few years ago (yes its survivable and I’m actually better for it), I realized that I had the chance to recreate my life. This process included going back to school to get a Masters Degree in Computer Science. At the end of all the dry boring programming classes, I had the opportunity to take a Human Computing Interaction class and I finally felt like I was headed in the right direction. UX connected to my Interior Design background and my love of technology, I was like a duck seeing water for the first time!!!! In search of more information I attended a six day Nielsen Usability Boot Camp in London. It was about five minutes into the first day that I knew that these were my peeps and UX was where my heart its.
I currently freelance, designing and developing websites but I’m looking for my dream job doing UX and feel that I would be a good opportunity for an employer because I have work and management experience yet I don’t have any (or at least not many) bad UX habits. I’m constantly furthering my knowledge (like SVA summer intensive program 2010). I will be the employee that someone will look back at and think “hiring her was the best chance I ever took in my career.”
Other facts about me…

I co-founded the largest comedy festival in NYC, www.nycundergroundcomedyfesival.com
I was born in Jamaica (the Island, not Queens) to my Cuban Father and Southern Louisiana Mother (what a combo). Both my parents are super creative: oil painting, violin making, sports car restoration, pottery and furniture making are just a few of the things that went on in my house growing up.
I grew up in Boca Raton, Florida riding horses
My married life was very much like living out Martha Stewarts television show… I cooked, gardened and restored my Bedford Hills, NY home.
I have learned to use what some would consider a weakness to my advantage which is dyslexia. Geometry and Algebra for example became far easier to understand when I could visualize them.

I enjoy life on the Upper Westside, which includes time with my Maltese Daisy
